A collaboration between the conflict analysis and resolution and geography and geoinformation science is giving scholars access to data that shows the breadth and depth of violence of the Sudanese Civil War: a key component of achieving justice in cases of human rights violations and war crimes.

Taught by Chief Data Officer and Advanced Analytics Office Director Keith Noble, a new course brought students in front of US State Department officials to help broker peace in fragile states.

George Mason University, led by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution, is one of seven universities partnering with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) as an Academic Center of Conflict Anticipation and Prevention.

The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University and the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Conflict & Stabilization Operations (CSO) have signed an agreement, along with a select number of other universities, to become an Academic Center of Conflict Anticipation & Prevention (ACCAP) partner.  As part of this public-private partnership, the Carter School will provide research on “current, real-world conflict-related issues” as identified by CSO offices in the interest of supporting conflict resolution and stabilization efforts.
