Once a year, every corner of George Mason University unites for a 24-hour period, Mason Vision Day, coming together with the singular goal of moving George Mason forward.

Each year, the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations holds a celebration of faculty and staff generosity and commitment, and this year debuted two awards highlighting a faculty member and a staff member who embody the many ways in which the George Mason community gives to its students and programs.

Following renovation, the performing arts venue on the Fairfax Campus will be renamed the Barry Dewberry and Arlene Evans Center for the Arts.

Victor and Diane Hoskins are actively contributing to George Mason’s work to spur the innovative expansion of opportunity in Northern Virginia. In honor of their generous gift of $50,000, a conference space in the Mason Enterprise Suite will bear their name.

Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones continue their legacy of philanthropy at George Mason University with a transformative $1 million gift to establish the Stanley and Rosemary Hayes Jones Networking Testbed Lab within the Fuse at Mason Square building.

George Mason University announced this week an expanded partnership with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, to enhance career development opportunities for university students and GDIT’s workforce. The focus areas include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and government contracting.

James W. “Jimmy” Hazel, JD ’84, has led a life of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia—and to George Mason University. He recently added to his considerable legacy with a gift of $1 million for the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation.

In July, Charles “Cully” Stimson, JD ‘92, was elected as rector of the George Mason University Board of Visitors. A businessman and attorney, Stimson is the deputy director of the Edwin Meese III Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, Senior Legal Fellow, manager of the National Security Law Program, and senior advisor to the president at The Heritage Foundation.

A planned gift from Professor Emeritus Bruce Manchester and Fred Emory is an investment in the team’s historic legacy of success.

On June 10, 2024, more than 110 golfers came together at Westfields Golf Club to support first-generation students through George Mason University’s Diversity Scholarship Golf Classic.
