Webpage created for Research Funding Updates (VP Marshall)

Body

The Trump administration has issued several Executive Orders since January 20, 2025, that represent a shift in federal priorities.

The Office of Sponsored Programs has created a new webpage to serve as the central location for updates regarding federal research funding during the current transition period. The site is updated regularly and has direct links to funding guidance by multiple federal agencies and the White House, as well as the Council on Governmental Relations (COGR webpage), which contains information on Executive Orders and federal agency directives.

Key points to note:

  • Continue current work, and do not overspend. All faculty should proceed cautiously with their federally funded projects. Until we know more, it is not possible to determine which costs will ultimately be reimbursed. Be mindful of this.
  • Notify us of updates: If you receive any guidance from federal agencies regarding policy changes or specific administrative actions tied to the Executive Orders or the funding pause, please forward that information to ospaor@gmu.edu.
  • Proposal submissions: Proposals to federal agencies are still being submitted as usual. Faculty should carefully review any amendments or updates to solicitations or requests for proposals posted on the respective funding agency’s website as we are seeing more frequent updates than normal.
