Parking Lot Paving and Maintenance on Fairfax Campus

Parking lots around George Mason University's Fairfax Campus are currently undergoing paving and repairs through July 30. The following schedule is subject to change, based on weather and conditions:

July 18–26: West Campus Lot will be closed.
July 22: Police and Safety Headquarters Lot will be closed.
July 27–30: Lot L will be closed.

Welcome2Mason Event Funding Requests Due July 22

The Welcome2Mason committee is now accepting funding requests for events held between August 21 and September 24. Hosting an event during Welcome2Mason is a great opportunity for offices to meet new students, showcase departments, and inform students of changes. If you are hosting an event during Welcome2Mason or would like to submit a funding request, complete this form.

The deadline for requests is Friday, July 22, at 5 p.m. Units will be notified the week of August 8 of funding, and JVs will be processed in the beginning of October.

University Life Gives Back: Summer Days of Service Set for July 27

This year’s University Life Gives Back: Summer Day of Service is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27. We are committed to providing faculty and staff with the opportunity to make a positive difference and give back to our communities through a combination of both in-person and virtual service projects. Also, this year’s service projects are designed for family and friends to participate as well!

Faculty and staff who want to participate must RSVP, so we can track where our service and outreach is occurring. You may select more than one project.

Help us capture our service efforts by participating in our University Life Gives Back Social Media Campaign. Use #ULgivesback when posting and sharing photos.

Request for Mason Vision Day Submissions

After the successful turnout of this year’s Mason Vision Day for the Green Machine, we are excited to announce that Mason Vision Day 2023 will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2023.

The Office of Annual Giving is accepting ideas and suggestions for the 2023 initiative. If you have an idea, project, or initiative that you believe Mason Nation and beyond would support, we want to hear it!

Anyone—faculty, staff, alumni, students, friends—may submit an idea. Send your suggestion through the form.

Ideas must be submitted by Friday, September 9, at 11:59 p.m. All submissions will be reviewed in the fall, with the finalist announced in January 2023.

Faculty-Staff Enrichment Day is almost here! Check out the website to register if you haven't already. You can also browse the workshops offered, look at the schedule, and get to know the presenters.

Tweet about the event using the hashtag #FSED2022. We encourage you to share whatever you like about your FSED experience. Some ideas of what you can share: what you’re learning, “a-ha” moments, insights from the sessions, quotes that stuck with you, or your thoughts to contribute to a session.

Summer Knowledge Share Series from University Business Consulting

University Business Consulting (UBC) will host its inaugural Summer Knowledge Share Series, open to all Mason faculty and staff. Sessions are available both in-person in Merten Hall and virtually. Zoom information will be provided to all who register via MasonLEAPs.

Call for Coaching

Mason’s Workplace Coaching Program is available to faculty and staff who are interested in partnering with a coach. The skills and insights learned through coaching help people address challenges, increase self-awareness, clarify goals, define success, and move into action to create desired change and achieve desired outcomes.

Coaching starts with the premise that nothing is wrong or broken—nothing needs to be fixed. It is entirely self-initiated, developmentally focused, and built on the belief that people are creative, resourceful, and whole. Coaching then looks to partner with people as they explore professional and personal changes, growth opportunities, and challenges.

The program is made possible by dedicated internal coaches who are certified through the International Coach Federation (ICF) or have equivalent training/experience.

Apply for the Emerging Leaders Supervisor Series

Applications are now accepted for the Emerging Leaders Supervisor Series. This program supports Mason supervisors as they develop a leadership mindset, create and implement a vision for their own leadership, and lead a high-performing team.

The program begins in September 2022 and runs until December 2023. This will be an in-person cohort. Applicants who work fully remotely will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Note: Applicants must be Mason faculty or classified staff and must supervise at least one faculty or classified staff employee.
