Reminder to Participate in the Faculty and Staff Experience Survey
If you haven’t already, participate in the Faculty and Staff Experience Survey! On April 18, Gallup sent Mason employees a unique survey link to their Mason email address. Take the time to open your unique link and participate in the survey. The survey will only take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
The results will remain confidential. Data will only be shared in a way that no one individual can be identified.
Taking the time to participate in this survey is vital to the Mason community, and the results are actionable; the data will be used to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

Parking and Transportation End-of-Spring Semester Donation Drive for Patriot Pantry
Would you like to help someone in need? Make an in-person donation to benefit the Patriot Pantry at any Parking Services office through Friday, May 20, and reduce the cost of an outstanding parking citation by $15, $20, or $30.

Staff Senate General Meeting
The May Staff Senate meeting will feature guest speakers Provost Mark Ginsberg and Matt Smith, director of accreditation, who will discuss Mason’s most recent re-accreditation process and an update on the future of in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning.

2022 Transportation Survey Extended
The 2022 Transportation Survey has been extended through May 18. Take a few minutes to share how you get to, from, and around campus. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete.
After completing the survey, you can opt-in to a raffle for 10 prize packages valued at $40 each. Ten participants will be randomly selected from those who opt-in.
As background to the survey, 30 percent of Mason’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are attributed to commuting. Help us understand and improve how Mason commutes. To participate in the survey, visit go.gmu.edu/transporsurvey2022.

Summer parking passes went on sale on Monday, May 2 (online sales only). Visit parking.gmu.edu for details. Reach out to parking@gmu.edu with any questions.
Mason Shuttles Updates for Summer
Mason Shuttles summer service begins on Monday, May 23. Service will be Monday through Friday only. Burke VRE will not operate after May 20 until further notice. Schedules are posted at shuttle.gmu.edu. Contact shuttle@gmu.edu with questions. Note:
- The spring 2022 schedules remain in effect through Friday, May 20 (except West Campus, which operates through Friday, May 13).
- Graduation weekend service will be available for Sandy Creek/Metro on May 21–22 only, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. (last departure from Vienna Metro at 9:30 p.m.) No other weekend service available.
- There is no shuttle service on Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.

Applications for Fenwick Fellowship Due June 15
Applications are now accepted for the 2022–23 Fenwick Fellow(s), which are awarded annually to Mason faculty members to pursue research projects that use and enhance the University Libraries’ resources, while advancing knowledge in their field. Up to two fellowships of $5,000 each may be awarded.
The awarded funds are designated toward the acquisition of library research materials and/or digital infrastructure and tools that may be needed for the Fellow’s research project, as well as for associated research costs. In addition, the Fellow is given use of a technology-equipped office in Fenwick Library for the term of the fellowship.
Applications are due Wednesday, June 15. The 2022–23 Fenwick Fellow(s) will be announced at the start of the fall 2022 semester. Visit the Fenwick Fellow Program webpage for eligibility information and guidelines. Email Wally Grotophorst with questions.
Summer Faculty Writing Retreat
Hoping to start the summer with a blast of writing productivity? Consider registering for the Summer Faculty Writing Retreat, held virtually on Zoom from May 17–19. This event offers a supportive and collegial community of peers to boost your writing productivity. Participants work on a variety of research and creative projects at all stages of completion.

The MIX will host the Spring Handmade Marketplace featuring makers, artists, and crafters from the Mason community. The Boy Detective Fails, based on Joe Meno’s acclaimed novel, tells the story of Billy Argo, “boy detective.” In a world akin to Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, young Billy becomes famous for solving mysteries, until he faces a mystery he can’t comprehend—the shocking death of his young sister, Caroline. Ten years later, a 30-year-old Billy returns to his quiet New Jersey town determined to solve the mystery of Caroline’s death and right old wrongs. The School of Theater is thrilled to premiere this new and updated version by book writer Joe Meno and composer Adam Gwon.

Maestro Anthony Maiello reunites with Broadway veteran and soprano Lisa Vroman, “one of American Musical Theater’s most beautiful voices” (Sir Cameron Mackintosh). This performance is family-friendly.
