Virtual Bike to Mason Week: Active Transportation Bingo
Join Parking and Transportation for Virtual Bike to Mason Week from April 19–23. Choose from nine virtual classes—everything from fixing a flat to learning about e-bikes. You can also learn the rules of the road in the Safe Cycling class, or what to wear when biking in any weather.
The celebration also includes an Active Transportation Bingo game! Download the bingo card, choose three activities that give you a "bingo," and send the completed card to transpo@gmu.edu by April 30 for a free Active Transportation Kit.

The latest version of the Fairfax Campus map is available at maps.gmu.edu.
Mason departments are encouraged to share the 2021 map with those visiting the Fairfax Campus. The maps.gmu.edu webpage also includes local driving directions and transit options to Mason locations.

Summer Mason Shuttles Schedules Coming Soon
Mason Shuttles summer service begins on Monday, May 17.
Service will continue Monday–Friday only. The schedule includes a limited Fairfax/SciTech route (one bus) and the On-Demand shuttle (two buses). Schedules will be posted soon at shuttle.gmu.edu.

Purple Up! For Military Kids
The Mason Nation is invited to wear purple on April 15 in honor of the Purple Up! For Military Kids program.
April is Month of the Military Child. On April 15, military families and communities wear purple to show support for and to thank military children for their strength, sacrifice, and courage.
Wear purple on April 15 and tag @GMUHRandPayroll on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to show your support.
The color purple was selected to represent all branches of the military. When you mix all of the branches’ colors together, you get purple: Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard service color is blue, the Army service color is green, and the Marine service color is red.

Faculty and GTAs are invited to this Stearns Center Digital Learning webinar. Attendees will:
- Learn student perspectives about alternative and authentic assessments
- Identify potential benefits and challenges of alternative and authentic assessments
- Consider examples and models for developing alternative and authentic assessments, particularly in online courses
As part of the Stearns Center Continuing Development Program Online Teaching Credential, participants are encouraged to use the webinar information to design an alternative or authentic activity or project for their own courses.

Records Management Infolinx System Now Live: April Trainings Available
University Records Management has begun training on the new Infolinx system for better management of the University Records Center.
Offices wishing to submit boxes for storage/destruction, or to request files/boxes back, will need to be trained on the new system in order to have access to the appropriate processes. Trainings are available in April.

Bike Commuter Choice: New Introductory Tier
Do you live within a few miles of campus and think biking to work could be good for your well-being?
All faculty and staff are eligible to participate in the Bike Commuter Choice Program. The program now has four tiers of support. The more you ride, the greater the financial incentive.
The new introductory tier is just five rides per quarter. For details, visit bike.gmu.edu and scroll to the Faculty/Staff Bike Commuter Choice Program.

Learn to Ride a Bike with the Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling (FABB)
The Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling (FABB) is teaming up with Mason Parking and Transportation to offer a Learn to Ride Cycling Class on Saturday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to noon in Parking Lot C on the Fairfax Campus.
Class fee is $10 for Mason faculty, staff, and students. For details and to register, visit FABB’s registration site.

Named “a visionary ensemble” by The Washington Post, The Barclay Brass takes to the Mason Pond Lawn outdoor stage to perform an “out of this world” concert of classical works and themes from the Star Wars soundtrack. Formed in 2015, The Barclay Brass is comprised of the Washington, D.C. area’s top brass musicians from a wide array of musical backgrounds. With trumpets, French horns, trombones, euphonium, and tuba, you will not be able to resist the bright, big brass sounds from The Barclay Brass.
