Mason Scholarships

Applying for a scholarship at Mason could not be easier! Scholarships are considered free money that will help you pay for college expenses.

Mason Foundation Scholarships

All continuing undergraduates, admitted transfers, and graduate students can review and apply for Foundation Scholarship opportunities offered through the Mason Scholarship Application. The application process may vary by college or department. Students should contact their respective departments for further information about the scholarships offered through their program.

Incoming Freshmen

Incoming undergraduate students may apply for Mason Foundation Scholarships once they enroll in classes for fall or spring semesters. Foundation Scholarship awards are based on a combination of merit, financial need, and availability. Some Foundation Scholarships are renewable provided students maintain eligibility by completing their requirements.

Notification of Foundation Scholarships for incoming freshman students occur on a rolling basis. Students selected for the award will receive an official letter via email from the department or award committee. Recipients may view their awards on Patriot Web in the Financial Aid Awards section.

Application Overview:

The Mason Scholarship Application includes both merit-based and financial need-based internal scholarships. Consideration for need-based scholarships requires the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1 (or March 15 for transfer students). Undocumented and DACA students may file the VASA instead of the FAFSA.

  • To access the online application, students must use their Patriot Pass login credentials (NetID username and password).
  • Some applications require resumes and other documents. Please ensure ample time for additional documents to be completed and submitted by the designated deadline.
  • We recommend typing your essays in a word processing program to take advantage of spell check and word count. Once you are done, just copy and paste your text into the application.
  • If you are having issues logging in with your Mason Net ID (username and password) please visit the password management website.
